The Food for Lane County Youth Farm is a 3 acre organic farm which grows up to 50,000lbs of produce for the Food Bank, while providing educational & work opportunities for low-income teenagers, volunteers and numerous community organizations. We also sell some of our produce through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) subscription program as well as at an on-site farm stand.
We have been using 100% SeQuential biodiesel in our 26 hp John Deere tractor for 3 years. The tractors performance while running on biodiesel has been fantastic. The exhaust from biodiesel vs. regular diesel is the most significant difference that I have noticed. Petroleum diesel exhaust leaves me sick to my stomach and nauseous at times, while exhaust from biodiesel use has little noticeable impact or effect. Using biodiesel on our farm also creates an opportunity to educate our youth and other members of the community about environmental issues related to fossil fuel usage.
The farm stand is located at 705 Flamingo Ave in Springfield Oregon, and the hours are: Saturdays 10am-2pm, mid-June through October. Please feel free to call or stop by on a Saturday this summer!
